JAG Specialist Onboarding
Welcome to JAG Specialist Onboarding!

This four-week onboarding course equips new JAG California Specialists to deliver high-quality, compliant out-of-school programming that prepares youth for career and life success. The course blends mission and model orientation, trauma-resilient instructional strategies, employer engagement, project- and work-based learning, and the systems required for rigorous data tracking and WIOA compliance. Specialists will learn to use core platforms (JAGForce, Headrush, MyLO, LLU), implement the JAG OOS curriculum and competencies, design measurable PBL/WBL experiences, manage targeted and intensive services, document outcomes, and coordinate with WIOA partners. By course end, Specialists will be ready to support students through enrollment, case management, competency attainment, and 12-month follow-up while maintaining audit-ready records.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the JAG California mission, the WIOA youth service tiers (Universal, Targeted, Intensive), and when to recommend each level of service.

  • Accurately create and maintain participant records in JAGForce (profiles, barriers, IDPs, services, competencies) and run two key reports (Competency Attainment and Follow-Up Connections).

  • Map JAG OOS competencies to classroom lessons, WDAs, and measurable skill gains, and demonstrate how those mappings fulfill WIOA outcomes.

  • Design and document authentic PBL or WBL experiences (including learning objectives, employer engagement plan, assessment rubric, and required WDA documentation).

  • Produce audit-ready documentation for enrolled students (WIOA acknowledgements, WIOA# evidence, Foundations of JAG completion, exit/completion letters) and outline a 12-month follow-up plan.
