Educator Foundations: Serving Special Populations

Welcome to Educator Foundations: Serving Special Populations!

Serving Special Populations is a foundational course that provides an overview of the students we serve in special populations and special circumstances, and the ways in which we support them. 

After completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the difference between equality and equity.
  • Identify the legal requirements to support students in special populations.
  • Explain your responsibilities when it comes to supporting students in special populations, especially those with disabilities or who are learning English.
  • Identify the systems of collaborative support we provide to students, including students who are seniors, homeless, or in foster care.
This course will take approximately 1 hour to complete. Time estimates are provided for each lesson.
